Third 2012 Macpherson SmithRural Scholar Announced [02.04.2012]

The board and management of the Macpherson Smith Rural Foundation Limited (MSRF) is pleased to announce that Cassandra Roberts of Managatang has been selected as a 2012 Macpherson Smith Rural Scholar.

Cassandra will receive financial support of $15,000 per annum for three years and will also participate in MSRF’s successful mentoring and leadership development programs for future rural leaders.

MSRF scholarships are awarded to VCE students from non-metropolitan areas who have demonstrated leadership capacities and a desire to contribute to rural and regional Victorian communities. MSRF received 192 applications for its 2012 scholarships. Applicants had to be endorsed by their school principals and to submit references from community organisations with which they have been involved.

After a rigorous assessment and interview process, Cassandra and two other applicants were successful in securing the valuable scholarships. Jacob Chacko of Benalla and Stuart Lloyd of Edenhope were presented with their scholarships earlier in 2012.

Stuart will receive financial support of $15,000 per annum for three years and will also participate in MSRF’s successful mentoring and leadership development programs for future rural leaders.
